HEAT WAVE SUMMER!!!

Well that’s what they say, when you’ve had a bad winter. And according to the experts we have had the worst winter in forty odd years, so bring on the heat wave. Only problem is pale blue skin doesn’t look good when it has just come out of all those winter woollies. The last thing you want to do is hit the sun bed, not unless you want skin like a rhino by time your thirty. Not to mention the dangers of skin cancer.
No a bit of colour just to make you feel better, there is only one answer FAKE TAN.

Now before you all go running off, Fake Tan doesn’t have to make you look like a reject oompa loompa from Charlie and the chocolate factory. No with a bit of patience and know how, you can look like you have just walked off a sundrenched beach in Hawaii.

I have used Fake Tans for many years now, and I even take it away with me on my holidays, favouring to wear a factor 50 when out in the sun. And nobody can tell. The secret to good Fake Tan application is PREPERATION.

Yep Fake Tan doesn’t look good if you have not removed the scaly skin that has accumulated over the winter. So first you need to exfoliate. I prefer to have a good long soak in the bath and soften that skin, I then use exfoliating mittens. You can really get into all the nooks and crannies. Just make sure you lather some soap up when using them, you don’t want to cause any irritation.

Next you need to moisturise, once you are out of the bath and have towel dried off, of course.
Now allow the moisturiser to soak into your skin, go and get yourself a hot chocolate and watch coronation street…And then come back.

Right, now the important part, APPLICATION, your skin should be nice and soft so that the Fake Tan absorbs into your skin. If you skip preparation the Fake Tan will cling to all the dry parts of your skin, not a nice look. So if you have skipped that part, go back and get it done.

Remove a generous amount of Fake Tan and apply to the parts of your body you wish to tan, keep rubbing the cream in until it has absorbed thoroughly into your skin, pay particular attention to elbows, knees and ankles, (I felt a song coming on then). These areas can be slightly drier, than the rest of our skin, and the Fake Tan can sometimes cling to the dry bits.
Now if you have not used Fake Tan before, allow it to develop, usually 2-3hrs, and if it’s not dark enough you can apply another layer.

That’s it, isn’t it simple. A Fake Tan is only as good as the person who as applied it and the product you have used. So follow the links below to buy my recommended products.

And remember Fake is best, less is more…

This kit contains the Exfoliater, Moisturiser and Fake Tan.

Summer Fragrances!

Somebody asked me the other day what my favourite perfume was, and after thinking about it for a while I couldn't decide. I must have about 30 bottles of perfume on dressing table, which may not sound alot but compared to the average woman of 3 bottles, it kind of puts it in perspective. So I narrowed it down to a couple, ok a few of my favourite - summer - perfumes.

I'm sorry but it's really hard trying to decide on my favourite perfume. But there's a perfume here for everybody and cracking bargains if you follow the links.

Fun Contact Lenses - Not for the faint hearted!

I have stumbled upon a really fun website, that kept me entertained for a while and to even purchase.

It offers loads of different contact lenses, running from your average coloured contacts, to ones with barbwire, smiley faces, cats eyes, dollar signs. They have all the colours of the rainbow, even if you don't buy any it makes interesting browsing.

I purchased the blue ultra violet ones. I guess I'm going clubbing at the weekend. I wish I got the pale pink one now, mmm maybe next week.

Must have make up!

Benefit cosmetics is a quirky cosmetic brand, that has changed the make up industry in the past couple of years. Nearly every beauty mag has reviewed their lip and cheek tint - benetint.

It has the ability of giving you a sexy, flush without looking like it has been trowled on like powder blushes do, because of that reason it makes you look instantly younger - in my opinion anyway. Powder blush is just so dated. Benetint is smudgeproof and lasts for hours. You can now choose either benetint or posietint which gives a more pinkier flush. But both offer incredible results and is a must have, in everybodies make up bag.

You can follow the link below to Benefits website and look at all their goodies and special offers.

Stop mosquitoes in their tracks!!

For all those mozzie magnets out there, like me, who dread the holidays purely because the mozzies can't get enough of you.

I've tried all the repellents even the jungle formulas and I'm only in Spain and they still don't work. The mozzies meet me at the airport now, and get me as soon as the plane doors open. My legs itch that much, from the bites, I can't get enough anti histamine inside me, my legs swell up to a size that only an elephant would be proud to have, and the only things that find me attractive are, yep, more mozzies.

My bites would be so bad, that people would grimace when they looked at them. The bites would still be there when my tan had faded and the duty free had been drunk.

About a year ago, I read a report about Avon's skin so soft range, and how efficient it was at repelling the mozzies, even so much so, that the British Marine Commandos have been reported to use it for this reason.

Now, the range is not marketed for this purpose but for some reason the little devils don't like it. So I tried it out. I bought the entire range, well almost, body wash and dry oil spray and tested it out in Cuba and India, the mozzies here drink insect repellent for breakfast, so I was testing the range under harsh conditions. I can safely say it worked.

I eased up on the Aloe Vera, which would previously be applied in bucket loads to ease the itching of my bites, and I didn't take any anti-histamines. It made my holiday more enjoyable and the only thing I had to show friends and family when I got back home were my holiday snaps.

The actual dry oil is not an unpleasant smell, but it doesn’t make you go weak at the knees either, but it is certainly better than being covered in red, sore, itchy lumps the size of golf balls.

Summer is almost here!!!

Well summer is almost here and my feet have come out of their ugg
boots, and need a little of, erm, TLC. So a pedicure is what they
need. It doesn't have to take long, a quick soak good rub down with
a foot file and I'm almost there. One of my favourite foot creams for
keeping my feet well moisterised, is scholls heal repair cream. Used
daily it really stops the crackle effect, that is so common when your
wearing summer shoes. Next just need a summer varnish, and of
course it has to be a hot pink. So I have chosen Leighten Denny -
Glamour Puss. A base coat, two coats of Glamour Puss and a top coat
varnish and I'm all done, ready for the sun!

Leighton Denny - Glamour Puss can be purchased through my
Amazon store, as well as Scholls heal and repair cream. Just follow
the link.

QUICK TIP

Before painting your nails, remove any cream or oil from the nail plate,
with nail varnish remover and lightly buff over your toenails with a very
fine nail file, next apply your base coat nail varnish. The gentle filing will add a key for your varnish to stick to better and your varnish will last for ages...
